- Important information
- Available adapters:
- 6-48-well plate adapter without cover. Allows use with most common 6- to 48-well plate formats without cover.
- 96-well plate adapter without cover). Allows use with most common 96-well plate formats without cover.
- 384-well plate adapter without cover. Allows use with most common 384-well plate formats without cover. Recommended for reading 1536-well plates, 15mm-high plates in all measurement modes, and 10mm-high plates in fluorescent mode.
- Important: The available adapters are designed for microplates without cover. Please remove the microplate cover (if available) when placing on the adapter. This note is also marked on the adapters (“NO LID”).
- Microplates: Using the right microplate is critical to the success of plate-based analyses. Plastics used to manufacture certain microplates may have autofluorescence, resulting in false positive results. For live cell assays, coatings or special surfaces may be needed to promote attachment and maintain cell life.
- Example microplates (compatible with Varioskan™ LUX) are Nunc plates or equivalent (more information on compatible Nunc microplates can be found here: https://assets.thermofisher.com/TFS-Assets/BID/Flyers/nunc-plate-selection-table-plate-readers-flyer.pdf ). Note that this list is not exhaustive. You may choose other types of plates that are more suitable for your experiment. Some microplate characteristics that should be taken into consideration are: the shape of the bottom of the wells, the color and the coating of the plate.
