Born 1993 in Düsseldorf, Germany, Andreas Kontny studied Medicine from 2015 and graduated in Medicine at Medical University, Varna, Bulgaria in 2021.
Since 2022 he specializes in Anatomy, Histology and Cytology.
He is interested in histological research about the eye and visual system. His special interest is the Cornea – a very special and unique tissue of the body in terms of function and structure and the presence of populations of stem cells.
Other research topics involve the human lens capsule and monkey retina.
Methodologically he is interested in tissue clearing, image analysis and the use of artificial intelligence in image analysis and processing.
Since 2021 he is junior researcher at the Research Institute of the Medical University – Varna, Bulgaria investigating corneal stem cells.
